“Thank you Rick and George for coming such a short notice! I highly recommend them to all my friends and family. Rick was very informative every step of the way before he does the work. They do their job quick and the cost was way less than what I anticipated. Pretty sure it's cheaper than the other plumbers in the area.”

Five kinds of routine repairs, done carefully

San Gabriel homes
Two sides of Las Tunas Drive
North of Las Tunas
The City’s survey found seven potential pre-war historic districts here, among them Country Club Crest, Mount Vernon Park, Oak Knoll and Rosemont Park, with Craftsman, Spanish Colonial Revival and Tudor Revival houses from the 1920s and 1930s.
South of Las Tunas
The survey notes that some lots here have been rebuilt with newer, larger houses next to older ones, and it flags the Mission District as a potential conservation overlay zone.

What a handyman in San Gabriel runs into
San Gabriel’s homes are older than most in the region. The city’s 2021–2029 Housing Element preliminary report counts 13,564 housing units and finds that 52.3 percent of them are more than 60 years old, compared with 32.1 percent across the Southern California Association of Governments region. More of the city’s homes were built in the 1940s than in any other decade.
It is also a city of houses more than apartments. The same report counts 7,483 single-family detached homes, and single-family units make up 67.6 percent of the housing stock, above the regional share. So most of our San Gabriel calls are to a house with its own yard, its own water shutoffs and its own set of quirks built up over the decades.
Those quirks shape the work we take on here:
- Plaster walls that crack at the corners of doors and windows, and need a patch that matches the hard, smooth surface around it.
- Solid wood doors and old hardware that stick, sag or stop latching, where an adjustment usually beats a replacement.
- Older shutoff valves, two-handle faucets and toilets with worn parts, repaired or replaced, plus water heater repair and replacement, and shower valve and cartridge replacement.
- Light fixtures, ceiling fans and outlets replaced in the boxes that are already there.
Newer homes and condos in town get the usual list too: mounting, assembly and touch-ups. New wiring and re-piping are part of the work too, and changes to walls get a plan up front. A photo by text is the quickest way to a free estimate.

Yelp reviews
In our customers’ words
Unedited, from the Szeto Plumbing and Handyman page on Yelp.
I had a small issue with my towel hanger but Szeto responded quickly and had it taken care of. Punctual and quality service. Will definitely be contacting him again if I have any other service that needs to be requested!
Rick is amazing! He came in explained what the issue was with my sink and got everything done fast. Super reasonable price and give me the same price as he's estimate quote. 100/100 would recommend and consider for future plumping issues

A San Gabriel Valley customer on Yelp
These guys did such an amazing job fixing my shower as well as my outdoor faucet leak. Even after it turned out to be much more difficult and involved than expected, with their expertise they were able to solve the issue. I am now finally able to use my shower, with full hot water and there is no more leak. They are very responsive and have great communication, and are very honest, identifying problems that my prior contractors left.
