Dishwasher Installation in San Gabriel, CA

Replacing a dishwasher is mostly about the connections behind it. We pull the old one, hook the new one to your existing hot water, drain and power, set it level and tight to the counter, and take the old machine with us.

What we do

  • Old dishwasher disconnected and removed from the opening
  • New supply line and elbow on the existing hot water shutoff
  • Drain hose looped high under the counter or connected to an air gap
  • Power connected through the existing cord, outlet or junction
  • Leveling legs set and mounting brackets fastened
  • Leak check under a full cycle, and the old unit hauled away

Kitchens that were not built for a dishwasher

The City’s historic resources survey describes San Gabriel as mostly 1920s–1950s Period Revival, Minimal Traditional and Ranch houses. Kitchens of that age were not designed with a dishwasher in mind, so many have one that was fitted into a former base cabinet. Openings can be a little tight or uneven, and the shutoff under the sink may be an old multi-turn valve. We check those before install day.

The U.S. Department of Energy’s Energy Saver guide says ENERGY STAR certified dishwashers will boost water temperature to 140°F, and recommends scraping dishes rather than rinsing them. That works best with a solid hot water supply and a clear drain, which is what we set up.

Swap steps

Disconnect

Water and power are shut off, then the supply, drain and power are disconnected and the old unit slides out on a floor protector.

Fit up

The new elbow and power connection go on the dishwasher, and the drain hose is routed to the disposal or sink tailpiece.

Set

The unit goes in, is leveled side to side and front to back, and is fastened to the counter or side cabinets.

Run

We run a cycle with the toe kick off and watch for leaks, then close up.

Work for an electrician or plumber

We use the existing outlet or hookup. A new dedicated circuit or a new outlet goes to an electrician. Adding a water line or drain where none exists goes to a plumber.

Dishwasher questions

How should I prepare for install day?

Empty the cabinet under the sink, clear the counter above the dishwasher, and make sure the new unit is on site, boxed or unboxed.

Can the new dishwasher share a drain with the disposal?

Yes, that is the usual setup. If the disposal is new, its knockout plug must be removed first, which we check.

Can you install in a tight older opening?

If the opening meets the maker’s minimum size, yes. We measure before install day so there are no surprises.

Will you replace my old shutoff valve?

If it is seized or drips when turned, we swap it for a quarter-turn valve during the install.

Why does the drain hose need a high loop?

It stops sink water from flowing back into the dishwasher. We fasten it high under the counter or use an air gap.

Do you take the old unit away?

Yes, it leaves with us.

Can you install a panel-ready model?

Yes, with the cabinet panel supplied, using the maker’s template.

What if the new one does not fit?

We check the specs against your opening first and tell you before you buy, if you send the model number early.

Rick is amazing! He came in explained what the issue was with my sink and got everything done fast. Super reasonable price and give me the same price as he's estimate quote. 100/100 would recommend and consider for future plumping issues

Thank you Rick and George for coming such a short notice! I highly recommend them to all my friends and family. Rick was very informative every step of the way before he does the work. They do their job quick and the cost was way less than what I anticipated. Pretty sure it's cheaper than the other plumbers in the area.
